Did you Know...

Here are some interesting little tid-bits about my new city:
  1. Known worldwide as the "Home of the Blues & Birthplace of Rock 'n' Roll"
  2. Home of historic Beale Street, whose musical offerings have helped it to be voted the second most popular entertainment district in America following Bourbon Street in New Orleans
  3. Home to Graceland, Elvis' residence, the second most visited private home in the United States next to the White House in Washington, D.C.
  4. Sun Studio, birthplace of Rock 'n' Roll, is located at 706 Union Avenue, just outside of downtown Memphis (my office is located at 400 Union)
  5. Memphis is mentioned in more songs than any other city in the world
  6. Pork barbecue capital of the world
  7. Home to Fed Ex world headquarters
  8. Movies that have been shot here: Great Balls of Fire!, The Firm, The Client, A Family Thing, The People vs. Larry Flynt, The Rainmaker, Road to Graceland, Cast Away, The Queens of Comedy , 21 Grams, Hustle & Flow, Walk the Line, Forty Shades of Blue, Black Snake Moan, In the Valley of Elah, Walk Hard, The Open Road
  9. Home to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
  10. Volney, the lion who roared at the beginning of all the old MGM movies, lived at the Memphis Zoo until his death in 1944
It is said Memphian's are fiercely proud of their city. Well, I'm happy to say I'm one of them!
